   A couple of months ago I got a Powermat for my birthday. I was very happy with the construction, well built, solid, no plasticy feel. It easily accommodated my daughters iPhone, my iPod, and my son's Nintendo DS. The only problem with it was the supplied usb adapter would not charge my Droid X. My brothers birthday was a month after mine so I re-wrapped it and gave it to him.

   My haste was not rewarded. A few weeks after I sent it off, I found out they not only fixed that problem, they made an adapter specifically for the phone. Now I want one again. Luck favored me this time and I found the Powermat Giveaway at The Life Of A Coast Guard Wife. So I'm in.

June's giveaway was for a Wild Texas Wear tee shirt. First a little disclaimer, I was in the army stationed at Fort Hood, and I hated most every minute of it. It also doesn't help that Texas is the home of the Dallas Cowboys, as a Giants fan, I am genetically preprogrammed to hate the Cowboys. But after receiving the shirt, I was able to rethink my positions, my time at Fort Hood wasn't that bad, and the place I didn't like, the people were cool. Cool people are still cool, even if they love a team I hate. I would have never guessed a tee shirt would provide such a thought provoking experience.
Anyway my daughter loves the shirt. It's become her go-to shirt.

Since she loves it so much, I'll go ahead and say it. Texas isn't that bad.

July's win meant a little more to me. I won a Sonic Alert Alarm Clock. I was told these alarms would wake the dead. I didn't need it to wake the dead, I needed it to wake the deaf. My son was born deaf and through a miracle of technology called a cochlear implant his hearing is almost normal. But, he can't wear them at night because they have to go into a dryer. So getting him up in the morning was a task my wife and I did every school morning. He is growing up and he needs to develop some independence. Waking himself up is a great place to start. That's where the Sonic Alert Alarm Clock comes in. He selected the Sonic Bomb with the bed shaker. He is really hard to wake up in the morning so we converted the bed shaker into a pillow shaker. This  thing really works, after 2 days to get used to it, he gets up in the morning without fail. We love that thing.
When I entered in the giveaway, I knew that if I didn't win the clock I would buy one. Thanks Boobie lady now I don't have to buy one.

First I would like to thank Jessica at The B Keeps us Honest for hosting the giveaway. I was really exited to win the powermat. Finally, I can be the one to give the mind blowing birthday present. (Better than the usual gift card I usually get for him).

The Powermat arrived about 2-3 weeks after I sent the order in. I asked for the iPhone holder, the iPod dock and a universal base. 

For me it was love at first sight. The pieces did not have a cheap plastic feel to them. They all felt solid and built to last. The iPhone holder was covered in a slip resistant rubbery coating, and came with a pass through cable so you can still connect it to a computer without taking the phone out of the case.

The power supply for the powermat is very transportable. You will have no problems traveling with everything you need to keep everything you have charged and ready to use. The powermat comes with a universal charger with a mini-usb tip. It also comes with 8 adapter tips that will charge most devices out there.

My iPod, iPhone, and DS all charged with no problem. When you put the device on the pad a light comes on letting you know your are charging. After the device is charged the port will shut down so it will not overcharge your devices.

Overall I was impressed with the Powermat, but I did run into one problem, it would not charge my Droid X

It had the correct tip, (micro-USB), but I couldn't start the charge.

Clueless Mama Winner

I've been trying to win a flat iron for the last couple of months. My daughter Nikki, buys 2 or 3 a year and can never find one that suits her. Well thanks to Clueless Mama's giveaway, I finally won one. It was just in time, with her birthday coming up. I should have wrapped it up then but  I couldn't resist opening it and seeing it in use.


When I opened the box, I saw the most wonderfully packaged item I have ever received from a giveaway.

The package came with white roses, one white rose on the stem, a bottle of Shine Shield, a pretty detailed  instruction and warranty manual, a holder, a bottle of sanitizer in a really nice satchel, emery boards, and of course the flat iron.

The wife loved the way the flat iron felt in her hand, solid, but not too heavy. This was much better than any flat iron she ever used before.

Unfortunately, when we were about to pack it up, I tried stepping across the cord, but caught it with my foot. It was pulled out of Jean's hand and crashed on the floor, cracking the ceramic plates.
